40 rising stars under 40 in business in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
Dallas Business Journal -June 16, 2006
Frances Gordon
Assistant Managing Editor
Selecting just 40 finalists from the more than 200 outstanding nominees for
this year's 40 Under 40 listing was no easy task. But that very difficulty
demonstrated something very positive -- that the Dallas-Fort Worth
Metroplex is blessed with an abundance of talent, dynamism and dedication

Many very worthy candidates had to be passed over but each and every one
of them merited serious consideration. The final 40 represent a broad
cross-section of Metroplex business, from construction and real estate to
health care, the law and much more besides. Each one demonstrates the
tenacity and inspired judgment that are the hallmarks of the successful
business person today.

We hope that their stories and pathways to success will inspire yet more success among those who read them.
  • The Dallas Business Journal thanks everyone who submitted a nomination and we congratulate everyone who made the list. You are true assets to the Dallas-Fort Worth business community.

Innovation is the key to growth, according to
Jeff Bradford, president of Cross Media, a Dallas-based marketing services company.
Since he assumed that post in 1999, the
company has reported 200% revenue
growth, with 40% growth in 2005 alone.

When research indicated that companies
preferred to deal with as few vendors as
possible, Bradford decided to create a
hybrid company to handle those chores for
them and help them show a return on
investment for their marketing programs.
He spent 18 months building the company's technology infrastructure, then began offering automated marketing campaigns, collateral management, direct marketing, graphic design, promotional products and related services.

It's a strategy that has earned the company industry-wide recognition for its
innovative offerings.

Today the company employs 85 and works for clients including Hewlett
Packard, Perot Systems, Ryland Homes, Blockbuster, the American Cancer
Society and Texas Instruments.

A graduate of the University of Texas, Bradford worked for IBM after graduation and joined Pro Printing Services in 1993, acquiring that company in 2002 and renaming it Cross Media. --Lisa Tanner
